In math, we have been continuing to add and subtract. We have been working with doubles. A problem solving question that the students did using pretend darts went home today for you to see what we are doing in class. We also have been playing faceoff with numbers up to 20. This game can be played at home with a regular deck of cards. Ask your son or daughter to play faceoff with you on day after school so they can show off their math skills. We will be starting to talk about measurement this week. We will be using lots of objects in comparison to help us measure. You can question your children about measurement by asking how many marker lengths long they think the kitchen table is or how many shoe lengths would measure the length of the kitchen, etc. and have them guess and then measure it for you. This helps them make connections between what we are learning in school and applying it at home or in real life!

This week each student will be starting a research report on an animal of their choice. This will be the final project for our animal unit in science. The majority of this project will be completed at school, but parts of it will be done at home as well. We are starting our earth unit now in science. We will be learning about the earth's resources and how to take care of the earth. This will help us be prepared for Earth day in April.

Please be sure you are listening to your son or daughter read every night. It is important that someone is always listening to them read at this stage.

Just a reminder to please have the green survey that was home with report cards sent back to school as soon as possible!
